Product Manager - Automotive Paints

We are looking for a Product Manager with an analytical profile that will make a difference in our VR (automotive paints) team. This professional will be responsible for managing and leveraging the segment's product portfolio (introduction / integration / exclusion), considering the global segment strategy and market trends. This Manager will be part of a global team and will have a lot of interaction with the R & D and commercial areas.





Main Responsibilities:





·         Actively manages products as a portfolio according to Integrated Business Planning guidelines (such as new product introduction, product obsolescence, rationalization, etc.)





·         Maintains and manages the specified product ranges by customer to ensure compliance to specification set by each manufacturer or market





·         Participates in Integrated Business Planning process to inform progress on key projects





·         Proactively identifies and acts on opportunities for (global) technology/range harmonization





·         Acts as Project Manager for new product development projects, including coordinating the business case creation with Sales and R&D





·         Ensures effective planning, communication and progress of new product development and launches into the market





·         Benchmarks competitors’ portfolio offerings compared to AkzoNobel portfolio





·         Creates convincing sales arguments for products including competitive comparisons





·         Coordinates and supports roll-out on market level with the relevant stakeholders (incl. pricing)





·         Provides ideas for product positioning to broader product management community





·         Contributes to culture of customer centricity and value proposition thinking





·         Identifies new product customer needs through direct Voice of Customer interactions and Sales team feedback and creates specification for new products in liaison with R&D





·         Identifies new product customer needs and creates specification for new products in liaison with R&D, using the stage gate process





·         Creates relevant value propositions for customer segments in accordance with the segment plans





·         Adheres to established brand strategies to ensure optimal product positioning and value creation





·         Provides product branding / naming guidance in coordination with BU segment manager





·         Provides input for tradeshows / events as required





·         Participate in new literature and collateral development with communications manager





·         Acts as a key liaison to R&D:





·         Regularly reviews with regional lab teams to manage regional technical activity with respect to Stage-Gate and LWR’s





·         Acts as a key liaison to sales:





·         Ensures that relevant product information is provided to the sales team and maintained up to date





·         Close dialogue with sales team to maintain feedback about product performance and market needs





·         Acts as a key liaison to the region(s):





·         Works with the Regional Portfolio Coordinator to optimize the product range such as product introduction, product maintenance and improvement, market scope extension, repositioning, value engineering and rationalization





·         Provide meaningful product portfolio briefings on regional level or input for briefings on global level for the Communication Department and technical training development team





·         Manage Regional Supply Issues Relabelling, inventory monitoring, stock outs, etc.





·         Monitoring of Regional product complaints in the region activation of product recall notifications to the market





·         In collaboration with BU Marketing and Pricing Excellence team, runs cost to serve analysis to develop deeper understanding about the customers and related profitability





·         Contributes to the creation of best practices in product management through the organization





·         Be familiar with all applicable corporate and site policies/procedures regarding personal conduct, HSE standards and always in compliance with all applicable regulations





Job Requirements:





·         University degree in in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Chemistry  or Engineering;





·         Working experience in commercial environments or marketing;





·         Some work experience in a tech/tech service role is an advantage;     





·         Analytical mind with good financial acumen.
